Slytherin was founded by the wizard Salazar Slytherin who valued pure-blood students. Because of this, it was rare for a muggle-born student to be sorted in. Slytherin is known for their strong-willed students that have the potential to be strong leaders if they manage to follow the rules. They correspond with the element of water which is represented in their crest with green corresponding with lakes and silver corresponding with grey rainwater. Slytherin students are known to have a predisposition for rule-breaking, cleverness and rivalry with Gryffindor.

Ravenclaw was founded by the mediaval witch Rowena Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw is known by their wits and wisdom. They correspond with the element of air which is what the blue in their crest represents with the brown representing eagle feathers. Ravenclaw students are known to have a predisposition for academics and have a strong curiosity for knowledge.

Hufflepuff was founded by the witch Helga Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff is known by their wits and wisdom. They correspond with the element of earth which is represented in the crest with yellow corresponding with wheat and black corresponding with soil. Out of all the houses, Hufflepuff is known to be the most inclusive. Hufflepuff students are known to have strong abilities in herbology magic. They are modest and are not as competitive as the other houses.
